Several aggrieved family members of a man who allegedly died from wrong medication at the J. Y. Memorial Medical Clinic in Monrovia are calling on national government to ensure speedy investigation into circumstances surrounding their relatives’ death.
In a serious aggrieved mood; the family pointed out that as a result of the controversy over their relative’s death, there should also be subsequent prosecution of would-be perpetrators involved in his mysterious and untimely death.
James Yankee, alias Karate Junior who was also the Champion of the Liberia Boxing Association (LBA) met his untimely death on Friday as a result of wrong medication given him by Nurses at the J.Y. Memorial Medical Clinic on Capitol Bye-pass.
According to family sources, their relative had a motorbike accident where he experienced a cut on his knees and went to seek treatment but was not given the rightful medication, something which led to his death.
The deceased’s wife, Madam Easter Railey including brothers and friends further narrated that their relative never had any symptom of sickness besides the cut he sustained on his knee.
“Enough is enough and we need justice for Karate. Why take learners and put them into the clinic without any medical knowledge?” they wondered.
“So what has been the result now? Our son has died based on the negligence of this clinic. And moving forward, we will not accept anything less than justice Karete Junior,” the family vowed.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved family members have at the same time called on the Ministry of Health including the highest authority to have the J. Y. Memorial Medical Clinic shutdown with immediate effect.
“It is now time that the Ministry of Health and other authorizes involved see reason to close down the J.Y. Memorial Medical Clinic or else, more deaths are expected to come in the coming days,” they said.
However, the J. Y Memorial Medical Clinic is yet to speak to the allegation on grounds that the clinic is currently closed down, and whether or not is from the government that is not also verified.
Investigation continues.
