“Utilize Your Time Wisely”
-Inquirer’s Acting Boss Lectures MTI Graduates

The Acting Managing Editor of the Inquirer Newspaper, C. Winnie Saywah-Jimmy has cautioned the 9th graduating class of the Montserrado Technical Institute (MIT) to ensure the utilization of their time attentively.
She said as humans who wish to achieve many things in life which requires hard work, the proper utilization of one’s time, learning from failure (problem solving), be loyal (self-control) and persistence (determination).
“To live a comfortable life, you need to work hard. Because a person is guaranteed to succeed in life if he/she focuses on hard work which involves going the extra mile in the race,” Madam Jimmy maintained.
Speaking on Sunday, October 30, 2022 when she served as the guest speaker of the MTI 9th graduation exercise, the Inquirer boss noted that an idle person who is seen relaxing all the time can never achieve success and as such it is impossible to reach the height of success being idle.
Madam Jimmy stressed, “Every one of us has goals in life; so I have come to challenge you graduates what your plans are, because before reaching here, you should have by now have plans that will serve as guide as you walk out of the walls of this institution.”
“So, I leave with you that hard work, together with time is a must if you must succeed on your journey because the first key to success is to make a plan, and have a picture of what a successful life looks to you and set aside goals to get you to that life you so desire or envisage,” she added.
Meanwhile, Madam Saywah-Jimmy has at the same time urged the graduates not to fear failure as it is natural to human existence/lives, emphasizing, “Failures are part of the journey to success and as such, it is important to work hard to increase your concentration level.”
She further said, “Success also takes strategic actions in the right direction while an idle person can never gain anything if they sit and wait for better opportunities to come because hard work beats talents especially so when talents do not work hard.”
“Again, I say big congratulations to you ‘Class of Success’ and as you go out, keep your plans and focus, if you must achieve this success,” she stressed.
Earlier in delivering his valedictory address, the graduate and dux of the institution, Michael A. Konadu urged his fellow graduates to take advantage of every minute, second and time given them as they embark on a new beginning of their lives in their academic sojourn.
Speaking on the topic “The important and Essence of Time”, student Konadu maintained that if he and his fellow graduates are to succeed after their graduation, the issue of time which is man’s greater enemy should and must be at all-time be observed and respected by them.
He added, “Colleagues, as we walk out of the walls of this institution, I urge all of you including me to always make use of every opportunity we will have as well as embrace and accept the challenges that will come our way as well, because life is all about give and take, but with focus, I believe we shall all succeed in life.”
MTI’s principal, Festus D.N. Pabai who could not hold back his joy lauded the graduating students for their steadfastness and commitment despite the odds coupled the COVID-19 but still managed to be graduated.
He added, “The road was rough with the journey also tough but today due to many reasons, and in spite of all these, you stood your grounds, returned to school, completed, passed the National exam and today, you have made the institution proud.”
Mr. Pabai then charged the students to continue to forge ahead and bring their dreams to fruition, averring, “The future is bright for those who prepare now towards it. Always allow your dreams and visions of becoming a great personality scare you.”
