Proprietor Wants Permit,
License Policy For Instructors

By Grace Q. Bryant
The founder of the Hope China International Academy (HOICA), Rancy T. Gorwor, is recommending the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education to institute permit and license policy for high school instructors across the country.
According to Mr. Gorwor, in order to mitigate what he describes as ‘cargo’ instructors and generational depletes in order to put Liberia on path with its sub-regional body.
He made the statement over the weekend when he addressed team of reporters in
Paynesville City.
Gorwor, among other things, said the permit will help in curtailing the wild spread unprofessional, lackadaisical nature and indiscipline instructors who are working as cargo instructors damaging the images of the schools across the country, stressing that there are many instructors who do not attend classes to teach, but are only concerned about collecting salaries.
“I’m pleading with the Ministry of Education to put in measures that will compare teachers to obtain permits or licenses as it is done in the medical field,” he added; stating that by doing so, those who have passion for the teaching profession will be forced to obtain permits before entering the classrooms.
The HOICA’s boss maintained that the only way to fix the educational system, one must first undergo teacher’s training thereby obtaining a permit before entering the classroom to teach.
Worwor disclosed that too many people claimed to be instructors but lack basic knowledge of classroom management and teaching methodology.
He blamed the Ministry of Education for the poor educational system in the country; the sector according to him is still struggling to be on path with neighboring countries because of the lack of supervision and the will-power to regulate and implement the educational policies.
He said there are many who are claiming to be instructors and graduates of several teaching training institutions across the country but with fake documents and that they are surviving on these fake documents because of lack of proper supervision.
‘I have dismissed many of them from my school; if I just find out that they are using fake documents, I conduct my private investigation before dismissing them,” he disclosed. He noted that when the permit and license processes are instituted, teachers will apply at the Ministry with the necessary documents from the school they graduated from, sit and pass the Ministry’s test before they can be admitted as a teacher in any institution in the country,” Mr. Gorwor explained.
