A group of Liberian musicians under the Music Makers Band are expected to depart the country on a five-month tour in the United States of America.
The tour is a continuation process of taking the Liberian musical industry to the rest of the world which started months ago in Africa.
The group of veteran Liberian entertainers said it remains committed to improving the industry as a means to shape the society to the best dimension through music and entertainment.
Speaking to this paper yesterday, the band leader and hit maker, Nyan Dokpa, said the team of musicians is expected to leave Liberia for the United States of America to honour an invitation from a US-based social organization dubbed Youth in Action.
While in the US, the Liberian musicians will make performances in cities mostly where Liberians reside for the sake of taking the traditional style of music that were danced years ago.
“We will be going to Bismarck, Fargo, Dickinson, James Town, Williston and Ground Fork for the five months of our stay and for the sake of others Liberians in Philadelphia, Chicago, Minnesota and others states even though they are out of our target for now,” Dokpa stated. According to him, the Music Makers Band recently embarked on a tour that took them to about five African countries to perform at popular events and canters which made Liberians home and abroad to see the industry as a place of joy across Africa.
He said during the first edition of the tour which feature Africa, the team were seen in Sierra Leone precisely at Saluma performing popular songs like Mandigo Drum, Blekolo among many others that were loved by their fans and followers.
“We went to Morocco and Conakry where we performed to the admiration of music lovers in those countries. While there, we saw that music serves as a lot to the people in a society and that is what we had been doing since our establishment in 1984,” Dokpa said.
“Out of Africa, we went to Dubai recently, shook the place with our songs and that was like the first time for a Liberian musical group to perform at a park that is full of all the best tourists from across the world and another park we visited was in Omar and this is what we are taking to the US,” he added.
