Court Summons Yekeh’s Assailants

The Monrovia City Court has summoned Matenneh Fofana and eight others for allegedly manhandling Representative Yekeh Kolubah on the grounds of the Capital Building.
Representative Kolubah prayed for a Writ of Arrest from the City Court in a complaint filed against the defendants who were then charged with the Crimes Simple Assault, Felonious Restraint and Disorderly Conduct.
“The alleged act of the defendant being unlawful, illegal and intentional is in violation of sections 14.21, 14.51 and 17.3 of the New Penal Law of Liberia there and then the crimes herein the defendant did do and commit,” the court noted.
According to Judge Jomah order , “You are hereby commanded to summon Morris Gibson, Matenneh Fofana and seven others to be identified, defendant and cause them to appear before the Monrovia City Magisterial Court, Temple of Justice on August 31, to answer to the charges of Simple Assault, Felonious Restraint and disorderly conduct based upon the oath and complaint of the Republic of Liberia by and through Yekeh Kolubah, plaintiff, in which it is substantially alleged.
Judge Jallah furthered that during the period of August 23, the within named defendants being there and then with the intent to cause the private prosecutor bodily injury, purposely jumped on the said private prosecutor, who is a sitting Representative on the ground of the Capitol Building, beat and inflicted pains and injuries on his body, thereby further preventing and denying him access to his office.
“The defendants are hereby ordered to appear before court on the above date and time to answer to the allegation as contained herein,” the court ordered.
The court further explained that contrary to the force and effect to the statutory law of Liberia and in such cases made and provided for against the peace and dignity of the Republic and for so doing, this shall constitute your legal and sufficient authority.
