NPHIL, Partners To Launch
National Hygiene Campaign

The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) and partners will launch the National Hygiene for Health Campaign (H4H) on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Monrovia.
The H4H is part of the overall national effort intended to increase health outcomes and raise the profile of Hygiene Liberia in the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector.
Hand hygiene is a critical element in disease prevention. The latest global estimates find that 2.3 billion people lacked soap and water at home, 900 million children lacked soap and water at their school, and 40 percent of health care facilities were not equipped to practice hand hygiene at points of care.
Adequate water, sanitation, and hygiene services for households, schools, and healthcare facilities are among the most important measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19.
The low levels of coverage of these basic services in many parts of the world reflect substantial inequalities between and within countries and contribute to the vulnerability of these populations to the pandemic.
The Chair of the WASH Legislative Caucus Senator Jonathan Kaipey and the Country Director of WaterAid, Chuchu Selma will launch the campaign.
The launch of the National Hygiene for Health Campaign will bring together partners in the Water Sanitation and Hygiene Sector in the implementation of the national strategy to address hygiene in Liberia.
