The Engineering Society of Liberia (ESOL) over the weekend, held its first quarter of Eng. Isaac Vaye Sr. Lecture Series with focus on the Triple Binding Constraints of Project Management in the field.
The Isaac Vaye Lecture Series held at the Lutheran Church Compound in Monrovia, brought together both past and current members of ESOL including its former Secretary General, current president, students from various universities studying engineering among others.
Speaking at the start of the interactive Lecture Series, ESOL president, Victor Smith pointed out that the day-long Lecture Series was intended to upgrade the knowledge and continuously educate engineers in Liberia.
He said that the society has realized and accepted that the youths, most young engineers are mostly involved in project management, and as such, the need to be well-equipped with keys that will enable them to be more effective in the engineering field can never be overemphasized.
According to him, the rebuilding and transformation of every country squarely rest and depend on the engineers especially so, when the world is now transitioning to digital technology.
He added, “So, we as engineers are more important because there is nothing that can be done or achieved without our service, and that is what makes us so unique and very special.”
Mr. Smith then cautioned the participants to ensure that the knowledge acquired from the Lecture Series be used and actualized for its intended purpose.
Giving an overview of the Isaac Vaye Lecture Series, ESOL’s former Secretary General, David Wounuah stated that the purpose of the training was based on the PMI/PMBOK Methodologies of Project Management.
According to him, the objectives of the Lecture Series is to ensure that participants would be able to enhance their understanding of project, the functions of a project manager and indicators of a successful project.
He added, “It is also to expand knowledge on the difference between “project” and “operation”, Understanding of various Project Management Methodologies and Applications, A General Overview of PMIs Project Management Approach, Process Groups, and Knowledge Areas and processes.”
Several participants lauded the ESOL leadership for what they described as ‘interactive and educative’ Lecture Series, something they said is a boost for them and the field of engineering.
Various participants also called on the ESOL leadership to ensure more training that will serve as an opportunity for them to gain more knowledge and experience.
