Deputy Commissioner General for Technical Affairs at the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Atty. Decontee T. King-Sackie has been honored by the Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA).
Atty. King-Sackie, a senior and bonafide member of LICAP was yesterday, presented with the institute’s highest honor, the ‘President’s Award’ for her role played as chairperson of committee set up to ensure the successful holding of the 2nd Joint ABWA Congress Conference in Liberia.
Recently, the Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA) in collaboration with the Accountancy Bodies in West Africa (AWBA) hosted the 2nd ECOWAS AWBA Joint Congress in Liberia under the theme: “Good Governance and Sustainable Development for Regional Prosperity.”
The conference which was held from March 16-19, 2022, was focused on strengthening regional partnership and collaboration among member countries of professional accounting bodies with the aim at formulating strategic measures to advance the profession through knowledge-sharing.
The Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA) is a professional association of accountants in Liberia, and a member body of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). The Institute was established by an Act of the Liberian Legislature.
Presenting the award, LICPA’s president, Victor SBK Tanwone stated that his decision in consultation with Council members to award Atty. King-Sackie was based on tireless efforts and time exerted for the success of the just ended ABWA conference.
According to him, LICAP has now been written into history across member states over the successful holding of the conference that witnessed several delegates in attendance, a success story he attributed to the honoree, Atty. King-Sackie and team for their relentless support and work during the conference.
He added, “Because of this woman and her energetic team, the Institute and Liberia was able to make history because this congress was hosted in Liberia and was the very first time ever, and it has now helped to boost the institute and Liberia as a nation.”
“Today, Liberia is now in the news of every member-state, and it will interest to note that I have now received several emails from members asking me about our blueprint used to successfully host the congress and this could not have been possible without Atty. King-Sackie and team,” he stressed.
In his closing remark, the LIPCA president thanked the Liberian government for the continuous support towards the institute and all members for their tireless support and commitment towards the growth, improvement and forward march of the Institute.
Receiving the award, Atty. Decontee King-Sackie thanked the LICPA president and his officials for the farsightedness in recognizing her work done in ensuring that the Institute makes history among member states in the region.
She then dedicated the award to her entire team and family who she described as the backbone engine behind the successful holding of the joint congress, adding, “My committee members and family are the real deal and champion of this award because throughout this conference, they were very supportive and instrumental every step along the way.”
