Education To Introduce Teachers’ Award

The teaching profession in Liberia seems to be innovated by gaining a bit of flavor and appreciation for teachers and school administrators, as the Ministry of Education rallies to introduce a national award annual ceremony.
The platform dubbed “Liberia National Educators’ Awards program (LINEAP) is expected to recognize and reward excellent teaching and outstanding contributions of teachers and school administrators to the teaching profession in Liberia.
Speaking yesterday on a radio program in Monrovia, the focus person of the 2022 “National Teachers Award Committee”, Charles Gborlie said LD 1million cash prize and a modern house await the Liberian teacher who will emerge as the Presidential Best Teacher of the year which is the most Prestigious award of the LINEAP.
According to him, the awards are in four categories with the amount of L$100,000 for each of the teachers that will emerge as the county’s “Best Teacher of the Year” in the 15 counties.
He added that the next category placed light on performing Principals and will be giving L$300,000 to the Best Principal that will be recognized as the Education Minister Best Principal of the Year, while those winning the County Best Principal Award will get L$75,000 in each of the 15 counties.
Mr. Gbolie further explained that the initiative is one of the many reform programs that the Ministry of Education hopes to create for the educational system in the country.
He stressed that a public national event for awarding teachers will be some of those best practices in other countries that is serving as a major development for the growing nations around the world.
“Teachers have been contributing immensely in every aspect to have the educational system progressing and the society moving to the next level which calls for them to be appreciated,” he said.
As it stands, the application process of the award for all interested teachers ends today to be followed by series of other activities including interviews in all categories with application status review and the grand presentation of the awards scheduled for August 24 of this year.
