The family of the late Princess Cooper has rejected the autopsy report released by the Liberian government that their daughter’s died as a result of tuberculosis.
“This report is a flawed because our daughter was never a tuberculosis patient or was suffering from any sickness as being sated by the government’s pathologists. So, we as a family reject this report,” they alerted the public.
On yesterday, the Liberia government through the Ministry of Justice released the autopsies of Princess and Melvin and stated that Princess died as a result of a natural cause which was associated with TB.
Cooper, 25, according to Dr. Kulee, died three days after she had visited the New Community Clinic within the St. Paul Bridge Community for an examination relating to chest pain and other health complications.
He stated further that there were blood stains in the deceased’s mouth and nose as well as in the lung as scanning was done on her body at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center.
Kulee indicated that Cooper died from natural cause(s) as a result of “micro-bacteria or massive loss of blood” which is associated with tuberculosis having been found lying in a pool of blood between a wall and a bathroom behind a storey building at the ELWA Junction in Paynesville.
The pathologists stated that the autopsies were performed in the presence of many observers which should not have been so, but they just had to because of the public perceptions and interest coupled with the belief people may have insinuated.
But speaking to a team of reporters, after the release of the so-called reports, Princess’ family in collaboration with the United Voices Against Injustice among other things, described the report as an affront to them in their bereavement.
On behalf of the family, Abel Momo disclosed that prior to the release of the report, there was no official or formal invitation given to them through written or via phone call or through their lawyer as was done during the conduct of the autopsy regarding the release of the report.
“So we see this decision and attitude by the Liberian government as a total disservice and complete mockery to us as a family whose hearts are bleeding and in pain due to the mysterious death of our daughter,” the family lamented.
“So, following the release of the government’s autopsy report, we as a family feel that what has been reported is not consistent with the normal happenings of our sister and we cannot take such a report from the government,” the brother of the deceased stressed.
According to him, they are still in discussion as a family aimed at strategizing a way forward, noting, “But we as a family still think that what came out today from the government through the Ministry of Justice is not consistent with the pattern of death of our daughter.”
“So that report is flaw and not accurate because Princes had never before or anytime suffered from or being diagnosed with TB. So, we demand that the government carry on a holistic investigation for the sake of the family and the image of the country,” he requested.
Momo stated further, “And I can assure everyone that we will remain cooperative and supportive along the process as we have always been since this incident but again, we want the right thing to be done and ensure that justice is served.”
Meanwhile, the family has also disclosed that they have consulted their lawyers intended to come up with a way forward as means to ensure that justice is dispensed into the death of their daughter.
He further stated that following the family discussion along with their lawyer, they will then inform the public about their next decision which he pointed out that will see and ensure that Princes gets justice.
