By Solomon T. Gaye Sr.
It is becoming a serious misapplication of the city ordinance as workers of the Gompa City Cooperation on daily basis burn garbage on the main Street of Ganta thereby creating concern among the residents living in the Bain Garr District in Nimba County.
Speaking to this paper in Ganta, Elder James Saye said that city corporation sets garbage on fire at will on the main on Ganta streets which is causing health hazard for residents and insecurity in case of fire outbreak in the city.
The old man added, since the appointment of Mayor Amos G. Suah, as City Mayor, garbage has taken over several streets like the Saclepea parking, the LBDI Bank and the main routes connecting the city.
Speaking on the same issue, Madam Pauline Tuah said the burning of garbage on the main streets is worrisome to the businesses operating on the streets because just last year, fire gutted over six business centers on Ganta Main Street and to date, there has been no official report of the cause of the fire.
Under the watch of Mayor Suah, garbage has taken over nearly every community and streets contributing to the spread of mosquitos and filths in many of the communities in Ganta.
During a normal tour on the main streets in Ganta, GCC workers are being witnessed setting huge piles of garbage near F2 business center on the main Street as early as about 6: 30PM on a daily basis.
When this paper contacted the GCC office on Ganta, Security assigned to the office told this paper that Mayor has left for Monrovia.
