It appears that the National Patriotic Party (NPP) of former President Charles Taylor’s political impasse is far from ending as the party’s National Executive Committee has reportedly dissolved previous resolution intended to have its convention held today, December 6, 2021.
According to NPP release, over 56 Executives have signed a new resolution aimed at removing the convention from the political leader’s county now to Margibi to hold at a later date.
The NPP which is a constituent member of the ruling Coalition through its Secretary General, Andrew Peters, says earlier resolution signed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of NPP to have its 7th Biennial Convention held in Gbarnga City, Bong County has been annulled.
The NPP passed a resolution to have its convention held in its political leader Jewel Howard Taylor’s county was due to her alleged promise to give 90% of the US$100,000 for the convention delegates.
According to the release, the convention which should have been held from December 6-10, 2021 will no longer be a reality.
The new decision according to a press statement is due to Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor’s failure to fulfill her promise as the political leader to pay 90% of the US$100,000 intended for the convention.
The release has it that, she reportedly promised to pay said amount while the party’s National Chairperson who is a senator, pays the balance US$10 of the US$100,000 for the convention.
“Now, therefore, due to the NPP in a resolution agrees to take the convention from Bong County to Kakata City, Margibi County at a later date to be announced,” the release concluded.
