After four years of existence of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), President George Weah is confident of possible second term victory-despite opposition threats to defeat him massively in 2023.
President Weah, giving his 55th Birth anniversary message at the CDC headquarters on Friday, vowed to repeat the opposition’s defeat 2023 despite their threats to impede his second term.
“I was reading the newspaper and I heard someone say that the Liberian people will make me (Weah) one term President, whether during election or after election; God will make sure that their mouths will be closed,” he stated.
Even though he didn’t indicate by what means those threats to halt his second term that mouths will be closed, but intimated that he will defeat the opposition more than 2018 defeat.
“I, George Manneh Weah will beat them more than what I did to them in 2018. I will double their defeat because I am the voice of the Liberian people and the Liberian people love me,” he boasted.
Adding,” I worked and sacrificed for this country. Coming to this leadership wasn’t a mistake for me. I came to this leadership to change something in this country,” Weah bragged.
It can be recalled that CDC of current President Weah defeated ruling Unity Party of former Vice President, Joseph Boakai in 14 out of 15 counties.
Meanwhile, over six representatives of the House of the 54th Legislature reaffirmed their commitments to join the ruling coalition.
Those who joined the CDC were officially turned over to the political leader of the party, President George Manneh Weah.
Partisans questioned the sincerity of their new recruits but President Weah defended them indicating that they have been working with CDC lawmakers in parliament for the last three years.
“Joining our party now is just to make it official. They have been supporting in ensuring that the CDC achieves its goal,” he intimated.
Those who joined the CDC were Rep. Matthew Zarzar of Sinoe, Alexander Pour of Rivergee, Julie Wiah of Lofa County and Rep. Isaac Roland of Maryland among others.
