The Monrovia Traffic Court is expected to auction about 67 vehicles and motorcycles seized by the Liberia National Police (LNP) for traffic violations and accidents.
The police deemed those items abandoned and overstayed at various police zones and depots across Monrovia and therefore the auction complies with Chapter 4, Section 4.9 (3) of Liberia’s Vehicle and Traffic Laws, which will commence on December 7, 2024, and will take place across multiple locations.
The public auction will begin at 10:00 AM on the following dates and venues:
December 7, 2024: Zone 1 Depot 2 (St. Paul’s Bridge), December 7, 2024: Zone 4 & Depots (LPRC, Gardnersville), December 13, 2024: Zone 3 Police Base (Congo Town), December 14, 2024: Zone 8 & Depots (SKD Complex, Paynesville), December 28, 2024: Zone 9 Police Base (Parker Paint, Red Light)
Accordingly, all such vehicle and motorcycle owners who wish to reclaim their property before the auction are required to immediately proceed to the clerk’s office in the Monrovia Traffic Court at the Temple of Justice.
To validate their ownership, the Court requests that claimants must provide proper documentation confirming ownership, and payment of all accrued fees associated with impoundment and storage.
The auction is not only a means to enforce traffic laws but also an opportunity for the public to acquire property through a legal and transparent process.
“This auction is an essential part of enforcing the traffic laws of Liberia. It also ensures that impounded items do not remain abandoned indefinitely. We urge all owners to act promptly if they wish to reclaim their property,” the notice extended.
This announcement according to the court presided over by Karsor K. Zubah, has announced to the public , serves as an official public declaration by the judicial regulations of Liberia as this initiative marks a crucial effort in addressing the backlog of abandoned vehicles while promoting compliance with Liberia’s traffic regulations.
